Change from Within

Green Green Green

I have been working relatively hard for the past few weeks. With the traveling that comes with my current position, I decided to take a break and chill at home tonight. Believe it or not Oprah was on and it inspired me to write :D

Since thinking and pondering about "Change" for a while, I think the earth we live in and we, the people living on it are very sick and it takes EVERYONE's effort to improve the situation. Although the change we do, might cause a bit of inconvenient or uncomfortable at start, it is crucial to our success as everyone's effort is small, it is important everyone is aware and do their part.

I suggest 5 basic THINK we can do:

1. THINK if our ancestors would do it this way
2. THINK if we can safe some energy (reduce wastage) doing it another way
3. THINK if there is a way we can do it better
4. THINK reuse and recycle
5. THINK fresh

By doing the above, I have managed to save the electricity bills at my home by more than half. The fastest scenario is reducing the air-conditioner use at home, office and in the car. I am not asking to give up all luxury in life or you not to use your air-conditioner at all, but reduce the use to a level where you can save, eg. turn on the fan after the room is cooled down :D (feeling really smart, hahaha)

I believe most of us couldn't be bother with many things as we want convenient and would rather leave things "ON" even when not using it. Another example is home appliances such as TV and radio. I saw program on Astro that day which suggested family will around USD 60 a year by not having the appliances on "STANDBY" mode. I don't know how many families are there in America, for the purpose of argument, if there is 10,000,000 families just America alone, there is USD 600,000,000 saving in energy. Not a lot but a good start.

There are more examples out there, am glad to shave more next time. If you have any tips of living better do SHARE. For those of you who like reading, I recommend joining http://www.boundlessliving.com/
